Eight virtues demonstrated, learned, and understood by our students:
Basically, Karate consists of three related areas:
- Training of the body to include flexibility, strength, endurance and speed.
- Training of the mind to include intense concentration, awareness, emotional discipline, confidence and stress management.
- Training in self-defense to include timing, distancing, accuracy, techniques of blocking, counter attacking and the physiological principles of competition and practical self-defense.
These traits are developed through a series of exercises which include kata or forms, kumite (prearranged fighting), drill, bunkai (kata application) and much more. All of these assist each student to become confident, self-controlled and physically conditioned.
